The Law of Requisite Hierarchy

چکیده
If A is a variable of any kind, the entropy H(A) is a measure of its vanety. It shows how much the various appearances of A differ from each other, whatever be the kind and nature of these appearances. For a quantifiable variable, entropy is just another measure of variance. But entropy can be used, as a measure of variety, for qualitative variables as well. If A and B are two variables, the degree of their mutual dependence is measured by the entropy difference

The Theoretical Foundations of Jus Cogens in International Law
International Law has it's Constituent elements (legal systems, regimes and collections of rules); Those have interrelations from which legal networks are created. Having this in mind, the question is whether these Constituent elements only have horizental nexus or are ordered by means of factors which unified them in a vertical manner and because of that International Law is named legal orde...

This paper provides an explanation of the increasing complexity of corporate IT management as a special case of application of the law of requisite variety. Frequently cited drawback of established frameworks of IT best practices like COBIT and ITIL is their complexity and related difficulty in their implementation. Through the perspective of the law of requisite variety, drawn from the field o...
متن کاملRequisite variety and its implications for the control of complex systems
Recent work on the fundamental processes of regulation in biology (Ashby, 1956) has shown the importance of a certain quantitative relation called the law of requisite variety. After this relation had been found, we appreciated that it was related to a theorem in a world far removed from the biological—that of Shannon on the quantity of noise or error that could be removed through a correction-...

This paper reports research into the application of Ashby’s Law of Requisite Variety to assist with identifying optimal choices of design solutions at the pre-design stage of designing digital ecosystems. This study of the application of Ashby’s Law is a component of a larger research program investigating the application of classical systems analysis tools in pre-design optimisation processes ...
